Participating in Expand North Star was a defining moment for Lunar. The company turned exposure into immediate market traction: a partnership with Dubai Municipality to join their incubation program and connections with local entities to apply their services.

As an Emirati company, Expand North Star (ENS) in Dubai was already familiar to Lunar, but exhibiting at the event delivered a level of impact they hadn’t anticipated: accelerated growth and new business trajectory.

One of the most significant outcomes was the formation of a strategic partnership with Dubai Municipality, joining its innovation incubation program. This milestone was a major validation of Lunar’s platform withing the public sector.

The startup, producing innovative platforms that power large-scale hackathons, also secured collaborations with several local organizations that adopted its service for university and corporate hackathons across the UAE.

MARKET EXPANSION

These immediate post-event achievements laid a strong foundation for Lunar’s continued expansion by moving to a financial free zone. “We transitioned from a DED-licensed startup to an ADGM-incorporated company, which enable us to onboard enterprise clients and access broader investment opportunities within the UAE’s innovation ecosystem”, explains Founder and CEO, Mohamed Ali Al Mehairbi.

Reaching Supernova semi-finals amplified Lunar’s impact. “It was a catalyst that transformed our startup’s direction completely”, he adds. The solutions presented during the pitch competition grabbed the investors’ attention and ignited meaningful conversations. “Since participating in Expand North Star, we’ve engaged with multiple investors who expressed interest following our spotlight at the event”.

A Catalyst for Transformation

Reflecting on the experience, the team credits Expand North Star for its dynamic environment and the diversity of opportunities it offers. “Post-event, our team has expanded significantly, we launched 1i1.ae platform, which has since hosted dozens of hackathons and innovation challenges across the country and our visibility and client base has grown steadily”.

With plans to return alongside GITEX Global, Lunar aims to build on this momentum by expanding internationally, forming new partnerships, and further embedding itself within the region’s fast-growing innovation ecosystem.
